Our building is the smaller one right between the trees.

The car washer

You can have your car washed a few times a week. Cost 60 AED (about 2,000 yen) a month.

The last day of Ramadan was lively

We went for a walk and found that there were a lot of people on the Corniche...quite a lively atmosphere. Fireworks were set off at various times, and in the park there was a play area for kids.

At 6:30 in the morning the road was at a standstill and a lot of people were standing/praying outside the big mosque...we guess this is something to do with this being that last day of Ramadan.

The night time is the right time

In contrast to the days, which are hot and humid, the nights are much better. No air conditioning is needed when we sleep!

Beach club

We visited a beach club today...part of a hotel. It was a realy nice place with two pools, slides, a beach and various sports facilities. We may join this club, but we want to check out a few others first. Unfortunately my camera battery is running low, and I have no way to recharge it until our seamail boxes arrive...so I have been economical with the photos. You can see more here:

On the 19th floor!

We live on the 19th floor at the front of the building...which means we do get a great view of the Lagoon. Late afternoon and sunset is pretty good.

Friday Prayers

Friday is a time when many local people go to pray...so there are always a lot of cars parked around mosques. We have three mosques near where we live so will bear this in mind.
